Now that winter is over and spring has officially started, it is time for all things new like bunnies, butterflies and of course, flowers! For a taste of spring, what better place to go to than Moreton’s Flowerland?
For 75 years, Moreton’s Flowerland has been the premier floral shop in Natchez and neighboring areas, providing high-quality and elegantly designed blooms with customer service that is incomparable. With a city that is so rich and diverse in history and people, the company has established their core commitment to offering floral arrangements that appeal to true human emotion. From small intimate arrangements to elaborate floral décor whatever the occasion – weddings – birthdays – anniversaries – celebrations of life – or tokens of appreciation, they are in the business of emotions. Their beautiful floral arrangements and gift selections can help convey your feelings of sympathy, love, and joy.
The company also understands that when you have the arrangement in hand and sit down to write the card, you may find yourself facing a loss for words. In an interview with Brenda Zerby, co-owner of Moreton’s Flowerland, she shared one of many experiences she’s seen just like this. She recalled a girl who walked into the store and wanted to send a birthday gift to someone she once worked with. She became extremely emotional when she told Brenda what she wanted on the card. When she tried to apologize for crying, Brenda showed her nothing but love and support. “We are not just order takers… we value getting to know our customers and building a relationship with them,” Brenda told us. This is exactly the kind of care you find at Moreton’s Flowerland. They will help you with the perfect arrangement in a supportive manner, always taking into account the emotions the person feels.
FLOWERS ARE FOR FAMILY
It all started with a magnolia bloom, an engagement ring, and the age old question, “Will you marry me?” – Fifty years ago. Brenda Zerby and her now husband, Blair Zerby, were living in Ohio when they received a phone call from Blair’s Aunt Violet Mae about a flower shop in Natchez being for sale. The shop was there for 25 years and the owners, Julian and Terry Moreton, were ready to retire. Blair was at Ohio State University in a floral program at the time and had thought about starting a nursery business. With an offer like that, the couple couldn’t refuse and they got married and moved to Natchez, Mississippi, it was a place Brenda had never been to before that summer of 1973. “We were very young. I was 22 and Blair was 24,” Brenda told us. Yet, that did not stop them from pursuing their dreams. “They were well established florists [who] had done exceptional work over the years and so that reputation, we had to carry on,” she explained. They had their grand opening and decided to keep the original name of the company. “We are very proud of our heritage, ” Brenda told us as she reflected on their decision, “and now our Daughter, Bethany has joined that legacy.” With a history as rich as the city they serve, the business maintained their commitment to upholding the standard set before them offering by only the best for the past five decades.
BRIDAL BOUQUETS
As wedding trends continue to change, one thing remains constant, their commitment to offering only the best. Have you ever wondered which flowers are in season in spring? Autumn? Whatever season you’re getting married in, Moreton’s Flowerland will arrange the perfect blooms and botanical creations for your wedding. When it comes to their approach to a customer’s wedding, the approach is always the same as with every other occasion. They provide the same listening ear, keen attention to detail, and unwavering dedication to quality every time. “We listen to the customer,” Brenda explained, “to get a feel of the occasion.” From reference pictures, to Instagram, to Pinterest Boards, customers are encouraged to bring as much detail as possible to come close to their vision. With their exceptional team, the design work is then created through a combination of the customer’s vision, and the teams’s creativity and expertise. The result? Your floral fantasy brought to life.
When considering pricing for Weddings or any event, once again, the customer’s needs remain central. “When it comes to pricing, flowers are a bit more tailored to what someone likes,” Brenda explained. At Moreton’s Flowerland, they use a three-tiered system to price for their customer’s comfort. After the customer has come to a decision on what they would like, three different prices are generated, ranging from low to high. Then, they are left to sit in the comfort of their homes to choose a price that best aligns with their budget.
