HOW IT ALL STARTED
Melvin’s entrepreneurial journey into the world of lawn care goes all the way back to high school. Over 20 years ago, when very few people were working in lawn care, a friend of Melvin’s dad cut grass for a living. Even as a young teenager, he had a mind for business and quickly realized the gap in the market. Eager to work, Melvin connected with his dad’s friend and he was out in the field in no time. Melvin was already showing signs of what would later be the start of his career, exemplifying qualities of a true entrepreneur. “I would go and work with him on the weekends. I would cut with the push mower and do whatever was necessary to be done,” Melvin told us. The often arduous work that other people ran from, Melvin embraced it and gave it his all. Eventually, Melvin became an inspiration for some of his other classmates at school who soon joined in to work too.
In his adulthood, Melvin didn’t embark on his entrepreneurial journey immediately. He maintained regular jobs and made lawn cutting his part time job. Although Melvin excelled in his respective jobs over the years, his true passion always lied in lawn care. Within the last four or five years, Melvin sat down and reflected on his professional life and realized that he was far more fulfilled working in lawn care part time than any full-time job he’s ever had. Melvin decided it was time to invest in himself and start his own business. He’s been providing the best service across Mississippi ever since.
