Health Care Professional – Raven Michelle Campbell Smith

Raven Michelle Campbell-Smith is a native of Natchez Mississippi and an entrepreneur at heart.  Utilizing her expertise as a nurse practitioner, Raven is the new owner of Premier Health and Wellness Clinic a private family medicine practice operating in Natchez.  The clinic offers services for issues ranging from diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, abscess draining, and small suturing.  Raven leads a staff of five competent medical professionals which includes her husband, Stanley Smith.  Smith left a successful high school coaching career to support Raven’s mission and vision to provide quality, professional health care to the citizens of Natchez.

A serial entrepreneur, Raven is also the owner and CEO of Health2You, a home-based medical care service which operates out of Ferriday, Louisiana.  In addition to the services offered by Premier Health and Wellness Clinic, Health2You offers services in labs, hypercholesterolemia, asthma, wellness and pelvic exams, and acute conditions (skin disorders, cold/flu, sprains, and infections).  The unique feature of this home-based business is Raven’s ability to make house calls to service elderly bed-ridden patients.  This business idea was nurtured by Raven’s aunt, Dolores Campbell, based on her experience as caretaker of her bedridden grandmother.

Raven’s love for medicine is coupled with her passion for fashion.  Along with her sister, Raven is co-founder of My Shoe Closet, a boutique store operating in Natchez.  My Shoe Closet sells the latest fashions in clothing and shoes for women.

Adding to her list of impressive accomplishments, Raven also currently serves as the nurse practitioner for Adams County.  In this role she is responsible for the medical care of juvenile detainees, inmates, and county employees.

Raven’s educational background and professional experiences has prepared her well to take on these challenging roles.  Equipped with a Bachelor of Science (Mississippi State University), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Our Lady of the Lak College), and a Master of Science in Nursing (Southern University and A&M College) for nine years she has worked diligently honing her expertise in the areas of urgent care, family practice, emergent, and correctional nursing care.

Nursing is work Raven loves and feels called to do.  Her advice for individuals with dreams of entering the medical profession is, “you are going to have some long days and nights, but if this something you truly want it takes hard work, you have to put the time in, whether that means going back to school, starting a business or whatever you decide you are going to do, there will be challenges”.

Among the challenges Raven faces is funding.  She empathizes with patients who sit at the intersection of needing her services while faced with the socioeconomic realities of financial struggle.  Raven understands that “a lot of people really don’t have it”.  Funding her businesses has been through the generous, grateful support of family and friends who believe in her vision and desire to see her win.  One of her mottoes, “always align yourself with great friends and family”.

Raven shares that being at work is her peace.  She is a phone call away and willing to assist others in anyway.  What she doesn’t know she puts in the time and effort to research and learn.  This includes her collaboration with Dr. Scott Wolf who willingly assists her when she needs help or medical information.

Raven genuinely enjoys caring for her patients and seeing them thrive in health and wellness.  In Natchez the clinic schedule is Monday–Thursday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Most major insurance carriers are accepted including, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Medicaid, Medicare, and VA insurance.  Patients also have an affordable cash pay option that includes lab work.

Looking towards the future, Raven foresees the continued growth of her businesses.  The loving support of her father, James Campbell, husband and three children Madison, Sky, and Summer are the wings she soars on.  Her mother, Maudece Campbell, is no longer here to see her soar but Raven will continue to honor her memory by providing the best medical care in Natchez.
