Meet the Wilson’s

Hello readers! For the NatVid Life & Style Bridal Edition, I wanted a beautiful love story to tell you all.  I found it, or rather shall I say it found me.  I am from this area, so I was familiar with the success of local business owner Joyce Hargrave.

I was skimming through social media when I came across a post by Gwendolyn Harris. Gwen is a local seamstress who was showcasing a stunning wedding gown she had created for Mrs. Hargrave-Wilson. That’s when it hit me, “this is the story you’ve been looking for”. I was instantly happy for her, and wanted to know more about these wins she has been receiving.

I reached out to Joyce, and we scheduled a sit down interview. The newlyweds were still enjoying their honeymoon energy and decided to RV for a while before returning to their businesses. One thing I can say about the Wilson’s, they really know how to accommodate guests. As we arrived at a beautiful location off the river, we were welcomed by the couple as they sat out in front of their lovely RV. The table was covered in crawfish, shrimp, crab legs, and all the fixings.  As we ate and talked, I learned that the couple’s first interaction was in a grocery store.

The two went on to tell me how their marriage is the result of a second time around kind of love. After life took these two on separate paths, they became stronger and wiser about life. While apart they both learned individually who they genuinely were, and what they wanted from life. Timmy said, “after years, I took a chance and reached out to her”, there’s no need to wonder how that turned out to be (per my title: Meet the Wilson’s).

Joyce and Tim both agreed that relationships are work, and they know marriage will be also. They have come to find communication to be important, but learning the “proper” way to communicate with one’s partner is the real key. Tim added, “we have learned to not speak or act out of anger with each other”. Joyce included the importance of remembering to be patient and kind with the one you love, “I don’t want to say or do anything that I can’t take back. God has been so good to us, it’s like a reset button”.

I could see the love that the newlyweds share. It was in the simplest things, like how he made sure she was nice and comfortable before he took his seat. I could see the way her eyes lit up when she looked at him, and it was the sweetest thing. I asked the couple what is next for them, and they both looked saddened about their honeymoon coming to an end. Both are professionals and have hectic schedules and dread being apart. Tim confessed, I hate being away from her, she’s my best friend. The couple agreed that they have no doubt that it will work itself out, where they can be together and work.

The sun began to set in the most beautiful shades of pink and blue, as the night air cooled us. Timmy and Joyce really share a love for the outdoors, and they spoke about how peaceful it is. Joyce enjoys traveling to rodeos with her “Cowboy”, thus their beautiful rodeo wedding theme. The newlyweds celebrated with family and friends at the Vicksburg Event and Business Center, located in Vicksburg, MS. I wish the Wilsons much happiness and success on their journey of forever. I was touched how much this couple believe in each other, and how they are supporting each others’ wellbeing. I asked Joyce, “how did she know the time was right for marriage again,” she answered, “We both knew what we wanted, and we love each other, she giggled as she said, “we’re getting older, you have to start somewhere.”

I would like to close with a quote from the Wilson’s wedding program.

“When we first met, we had no idea that we were going to be a couple. We never knew how God was going to use us in each other’s lives, but God made a way for us to trust and love again. Now here we are today, understanding that we are saddled up and ready to take our ride together as one. We know that with God all things are possible”.

The Wilson’s would like to thank a few key people in making their wedding day special: Dr Deborah Stanfield (wedding coordinator), Toni Erves (wedding designer), Gwen Harris (Bride’s dress designer) DJ Wallace (DJ), Willie Walker (video/photography), CaToya Rankin (makeup artist), Muriel McCoy (hostess), Chief Tamara Hill (caterer), JOYful Designer Cakes (cake), and Kimberly Tenner (treat table).
