Amongst the hustle and bustle of downtown Natchez, 35 year veteran of nature education and former Director of Jefferson College, Robin Person is bringing nature to you. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a Master’s Degree in History and Museum Studies. Her love and knowledge of all aspects of nature is the perfect fit for hikers’ adventures with OutsideIN MS, which she started a little over a year ago.
OutsideIn MS, located on Commerce Street, offers tons of fun, hands on activities for families and groups of all ages, from kayak tours, nature hikes and historical scavenger hunts to classes and programs all about nature, and even an escape room!
OutsideIN offers programs focusing on everything from art and architecture to nature and education. Her SUMMER of DISCOVERY Camps provides an exciting range of activities, which caters to specific age ranges so that the children attending can explore new skills on their own level.
Guided kayak tours are available for up to six people at a time. This package includes a paddle, a bag to keep valuables dry, a map, and a life jacket.
Her nature hikes are another fun service she offers for children and family members. The hiking trail is about 3 miles north of Natchez, where your guide will provide you with a trail bag to carry your water, bug spray, a pair of binoculars, and a nature ID guide.
If you can’t find the time for those activities, you can subscribe to a monthly nature box to get your nature fix on the fly. Each monthly box is filled with a variety of minerals, insects, fossils, seeds, leaves, pods, and so much more. It even comes with information cards and labels to identify them. You’ll also find something special in each box, whether it’s a tool, a book, or various rarities from the natural world.
When you can’t go to nature, let nature come to you.
